It seems that the 3.5 mm microphone jack/port on my computer is going bad. I have to wiggle the microphone plug around until I can be heard on Ventrilo. It works for a while and then it goes out. I am getting tired of this.

Now, my question. I have seen headsets that are usb on the Newegg site. Do these types just plug into a usb port? I would think that there is more to it than that. Is there special software needed or what? I ask because, if my 3.5 mm microphone port is broken, is using a usb port a viable solution?

Thanks.

Yes there are Rabbit......and they usually come with the software needed. Try googling that product and see the details.

I bought a Logitech headset at Wally World this evening. I just plugged it into a usb port and Windows XP recognized it. No software to install, etc. Works great on Ventrilo. Spent $35+, which about twice what I have spent on a headset before, so I hope it works. Thanks for the advice.
