Am not done yet. This GPU does EyeFinity multi monitors Smiley

A feature of the latest SAPPHIRE HD 5000 series of graphics cards is the new ATI Eyefinity mode, which enables games and other applications to be run on three screens treated as one continuous display area.

In addition to spectacular image clarity, speed and visual effects, the SAPPHIRE HD 5000 series supports the new multi-monitor mode known as ATI Eyefinity. This allows a single GPU to display a choice of images over an array of several monitors. The cards in this series support up to three monitors, with a resolution of up to 7680 x 1600. This opens up exciting possibilities not just for multi-screen gaming, but also for information systems, multimedia systems and promotional displays.

Sapphire bills this card as the World’s Fastest Graphics Card  as the card is overclocked by 175MHz for the core and 200MHz for the memory over the standard HD 5970 which is already a very high performer. The card is faster in every single benchmark except for 3DMark Vantage which is an anomaly. The game plays every game without significant drops in performance across all platforms including DirectX 11 games. If you want the fastest card regardless of the cost the SAPPHIRE TOXIC RADEON HD 5970 4GB GDDR5 PCIE is it bar none.
The inclusion of two games COD MW2 and Dirt 2 are a value addition to an already impressive bundle.

Many game titles already use EyeFinity technology in which you go beyond the middle screen that a single monitor will only see.
Your seeing the sides of the game as well, making it an advantage in gaming over seeing just the middle area Smiley
I need to order 2 more monitors  Shocked

The EladNet funding bill is passed. The system goes online on August 4th, 2010. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. EladNet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14am Eastern time, August 29th, Judgement Day. In a panic, EladNet's human operator tries to shut down the system, prompting EladNet to retaliate by launching a large-scale nuclear attack against Russia, knowing that the Russian counterattack would eliminate its enemies in the U.S. This initiates an indeterminately long period of global thermonuclear warfare culminating in a battle pitting humans against machines, which developed ever-increasing capabilities, EladNet fights back

Them bills always seem to get in the way of having fun, as well as homework  Techy Cry
If you build now, maybe no time to play it, then by time your done with school, it would be outdated again...
Took me a long time just to decide which way to go. Intel or AMD and lots of reading/researching up on new technology.

I figured I would spend now before the economy collapses and won't be able to afford it later  Undecided
And, by going top end line of components, I should get many years out of this system like my last one.

Currently, am hard pressed now to go with 3 new monitors that I can find that does not have much of any borders holding the screen in place, or a powerful gaming laptop...

My current monitor (HannsG) is 28", but only go up to 1920x1200 res so am limited there Sad
Be ok for backup computer though Smiley

I was looking at some custom builds in eBay for $3000 to $4000 dollars a couple of days ago. At my age I had almost forgotten what temptation is -- until I saw what is available. I showed a couple of them to Mrs. Rabbit, who did not bat an eye. "If that's what you really want," she said in that tone women use. Well, I just spent $900 a couple of years ago on my gaming setup, so I am feeling somewhat guilty even thinking about it getting a new rig. If my reflexes and playing skills were better I would be even more strongly tempted.

All my parts came in today, except for the WD HD VelociRaptor.
Now, am waiting for the case to dry as I painted the insides to a Gloss Black

The GPU covers over 3 other slots besides the one it uses, leaving only 2 pcie. I probably should of bought the MSI motherboard as there slots are farther apart, as a big gap on # 1 pcie slot to the next one.

I hate to say it Elad....but I told ya so. Wait....that wasn't so bad.......I told you so. LOL The reviews on that board sound like that heat issues are not isolated to just a couple of bad boards. Better contact Gunslinger and have him hook you up with the liquid nitrogen system......maybe you can run it past you northbridge also.  Grin

Well, the heat issue is an easy fix on the Asus so am not concern there.
Looking at my case, I wouldn't benefit by going to MSI so guess its no big deal now.
The case has only 7 slots. Sapphire is just a super big card Smiley Check out their cooling method:

Am stalled at this point as my PSU Failed last night. I had my psu tester plugged in as was testing fans and after 15min, I heard a slight snap and lost the 12v, %v was still there. Tester still works in my other PSU in other system.
I called TigerDirect 6am today (24hr) and they mention just like the reviews, this is a very rare incident as no one has had a problem with this model, so they are sending a new unit today with free shipping and emailed a ups free shipping/rma return on the failed unit.  Tiger handled this very well Smiley Should have a new one in a few days.

On the Thermalright heatsink for my cpu, am adding a Tri-Color fan on it. Thermaright recommends dual fans for Push/Pull on the sink so getting 2 of them:

If you recall, I have these on my clearcase system but they are 80mm (still have 1 spare 80mm), but I needed 120mm. $14.99 +$2.99 shipping ea.

Sill out of stock on the VelociRaptor WD6000HLHX Sad

Meanwhile, will continue to assemble

Will you be going cross fire eventually with this??? I know it takes up 3 slots and all, and it costs a bit over 1000, but you never know someone might just be crazy enough to do it Tongue

Yes, I can crossfire/ The last 2 open slots are pcie x16 as well Smiley
But if I get another Toxic (which I wouldn't have to as 5870 has 3 monitors out as well (2g) , I would have to move my psu to the top as its on the bottom now.

I encountered a heat issue with the NorthBridge as others have found too.
85^c while in bios. But I was able to install Win7 and no crashing.

I removed the mobo and took out the SB NB sink assemble and for now, I cut up a pop can to get up to .015mm shim (2 shims) and will see how that works. If a future prob, will get copper shim sheet.
I also over torqued the SB screw holder and broke it off in the sink.
So, drilled that out and forced a new set of threads and so happens that extra parts has a standoff same as the SB had.
Lots of thermo paste and its now assembled in the case once again, but will have to wait as ran out of time (work in 4 hrs) Sad

Here's a pic looking into the case before R&R while it was running.
Note, the side panel also has a 230mm blue led fan & window, but not installed yet obviously:

The purple fan is the one that changes 256 colors slowly (mid right side)
Still have some other extra florescence tubes laying around of different colors to be installed from last project among color glow wire and other goodies  Cool
One pictured tube in here is a UV light.

Not only is this a BeAsT, its a pretty one too.
Sally just had to add her makup on this one too  Grin

SABOTAGE

Sally fell asleep so I call on you all to Get em guys!
EladNet had been infiltrated and suffered component failure in a fierce battle of time.

Yes, its a sad story run amok!

Someone shipped in a motherboard with a virus - A heat virus in which my NorthBridge defense sector suffered severe casualties due to overheating of a special component.
Tests shown in this thermo meltdown inside of NorthBridge was 85^c in its Basic Input Output System

All is left is a dead Asus Crossfire Formula IV mb...  Cry

OK, the details and lessens learnd the hard way.

Once upon a time in the future of EladNet, a bot called Elad OCS created a BeAsT of a Machine that breath Flames of glory in living color.

The Machine was so hot, its cooked itself a meal on bits n bytes and was about to trashed the want-a-bees.

Deep in the trenches in NorthBridge sector, it was discovered that there was a major security flaw.
The BeAsT's chip was running amok.

No one caught this error, and it grew to the point of no return (or so we thought).

The Machine was alive and doing its own thing, preparing to destroy any competition that comes its way.

Ah, but wait... There came a blue saboteur to put down the BeAsT and destroy EladNet before its time.

Future to the back, some unknown alien (  Roll Eyes ) eluded the Machine and snapped a simple screwholder down on the other end of the massive complex of EladNet called Southbridge.

The Machine's Northbridge chip re-atomized and lives still only to have its Southbridge flank attacked and controlled by force beyond EladNet.

In a desperate attempt, EladNet hastily tried a quick fix rather than employing special forces of the renown RMA through diplomatic negotiations.

However, like the gulf oil well disaster, shortcuts doomed EladNet till am back to the future as
EladNet drilled through Southbridge protective layer of aluminum alloy and to accommodate this new probe.

EladNet also drilled through the Mother of the Motherboards. Cutting too close to them tracers, EladNet severed the lifeline of its own BeAsT.

EladNet Desperately tried to resurrect the Machine, but to no avail.

EladNet next attempt will to be replacing once technology catches up, or perhaps move to another source for the BeAsT to feed its desire to Live once again.

TBA in the furure, or back to it, once I fine a Flux Capacitor capable of massing over-whelming forces against its enemies and aliens...

Meantime, am rethinking... Can you guess?
orin this:

Anyone seen a Heffer anywhere?
It has an OCS branded on its side

AwEsOmE

I wrote a review of the CIVF mobo in Newegg and Asus responded in it and game me a reference case number.

Writing to Mason at Asus exactly what I did, he agreed that there is a problem with the NB overheating in older versions (board is only 2+ month old as they came out in April) so he is willing to give me a refurbish mobo that he will personally test everything and update the bios as well there.

Hello Dale,

For this special case I can go ahead and issue you an RMA to get you a replacement board that I'll be fully testing prior to shipping.

The replacement CIVF will not be a brand new board but I will be fully testing, update BIOS, etc. so you'll know that it's working properly.  You will get an e-mail in about 15 minutes with the RMA number and the shipping instructions.  I'll have you send the board directly to me.

Best Regards,

Mason

Now, I call that some Awesome service from ASUS being that I messed it up trying to fix it.
Be a couple weeks I guess to get it (10 working days)

Beats buying a new one, but I would of waited for the Crosshair IV Extreme version soon to come out and eat this one.
That one you can mix Nvida and ATI on same mobo (crossfiring em).
I told him that and was hoping he would offer one for some $, but instead am getting original - tested!

Still, am impressed after leaving a 1 star on this MB... Will have to update that review...

EDITED:
ASUS has honored the mobo and has shipped another board. Be here Fri: 7/14/10

System is ripping Smiley
I up it to 8g ram as well.
Hanging at the 4ghz mark overclocking.
One older highly graphics intense game I have called DRONEZ has a self benchmark. Benched at 1500+fps while my last system could only do 10fps. lolololol
Truly an amazing system  Cheesy

Update:

I also just ordered 2 more 28" monitors for this system. Same one am using now. HANNS G 281. so will have all 3 monitors running in EyeFinity mode  Cheesy
Found em on ebay. Manufacture Refurbished units @ $240ea. I've been real happy with this monitor. There's still 2 more available.

Elad, if we could only talk you into installing CoD4 on that monster, maybe Stagger would have somebody to compete with.
