Don't let the fuzzy fool you, the claws are SHARP

At our Church we recently began to watch a video series which addresses many of the false teachings out there today.  This is not a "denominational" thing, but a "truth vs lie" thing.  It shows a huge lack of spiritual discernment due in large part to a lack of knowledge of the Word of God and/or the concern to know the Word at even an elementary level.

My wife and I have been watching these before each viewing (I am facilitating the viewing at our Church), we both found ourselves completely shocked and astouned at some of the complete distortions of the Word.  We found ourselves, as did many of those have come to see the first 2 parts of a 5 part series, asking the question..."have any of these men or women EVER even read the Bible?!"

In discussing some of the herecy taught by some of these preachers, who lead some of the largest "ministries" in the world, with a cousin of mine, he could hardly stomach it either.

Justin Peters does a great job taking these false teachings and showing the Biblical truth.

Some ideas brought up in the series:

- You can direct God's will
- Satan is the legal "god" of this world, God has been kicked out of this world and can not intervene in the world's affairs unless
  we "give Him permission" to

- Jesus had no idea who He was until He found Himself in the scriptures one day
- You are a "god" and the real you is just like God
- At one point one well-known "preacher" pits God the Father and God the Son agaist one another where Jesus is keeping secrets from the Father

Folks, as you can see, these are about as heretical and blasphemous as it comes.  How can these things be being taught today and keep on going unchallenged and accepted by the masses who claim to love the Lord?  Perhaps it's because the masses are too lazy to discover the truth in the Word.  Perhaps it's because we're failing our children and not teaching them the Word.  Perhaps it's because the masses have no REAL desire for the Word because all they want is to have their ears tickled (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

Friends, I pray two things for these false teachers...that God would expose their false teachings and REMOVE them from teaching ANYONE...and also that in doing so His truth would be revealed and they would be saved.  The Jesus many of these are preaching is NOT the Jesus of the Bible...and only HE can save them.

Please pray for us as we continue on in this video series.  Some of our members, if not many, watch and even endorse some of these preachers.  I have already caught some flack as one member's favorite, or one of their favorite, preachers was mentioned.  But hey, I don't mind at all.  I'm only praying that God would use this as a heart-wrenching jump-start to give us all a greater desire to know the TRUTH.

If you would like to learn more about this...please feel free to PM me and I'll discuss it with you.

Thanks Mouko. I may look the video series up and recommend to our Elders.

Here is 35 minutes of Part 1

This subject of challenging heresy has landed me in hot water with a number of people as well. But I will challenge heresy until God calls me home. And folks, just remember that you should read the Scripture so that when you hear heresy you will know it is heresy. Likewise, when Mouko, myself or others teach scripture or challenge heretical teachings, you should research what we are saying to make sure it is scriptural too.

I was recently speaking with my wife's cousin who claimed to speak in tongues. She also believes in a number of New Age religions but claims to be a Christian. I asked her what known language she was speaking and she said she did not know. I asked her if there was someone present to interpret her utterances and she said there was no one. I then showed her in Scripture that her utterances were not scriptural because it did not meet the scriptural qualifications for speaking in tongues. Well she does not speak to me anymore. The scriptural qualification must be that it is a language that person has never spoken/studied before, that it must be a known foreign language and there must be someone present to interpret what is being said. Absent that, it is not scriptural or real. Read I Corinthians or Acts for more info. She also claims to be a Pastor. However, (sorry ladies) scripture is clear about female preachers where they would have authority over men, it is not allowed.

Many modern day preachers teach self-help but wrap it in a thin guise of Christian terminology. People believe they are being taught the Bible when the reality is that they are learning mere human wisdom rather than divine wisdom. They blend the wisdom of this age with language that sounds biblical. They blends the most popular aspects of New Age and self-help teaching with Christianity.

Here are a couple (there are many more) of verses to consider as to why preachers are getting away from God.

Matt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets , and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
KJV

2 Peter 2:1-3
1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
KJV

It is one thing for a Brother or Sister that has a teachable heart to misinterpret scripture. When they are showed the correct interpretation they correct their theology. But it is another matter for someone that is a preacher to intentionally misinterpret or dismiss scripture and lead people astray. God has said in his word that they have a  special place in hell.

If you would like to learn more about this...please feel free to PM me and I'll discuss it with you.

Mouko has a heart for God and is well versed in handling this subject without me. But I am here, as well, in case you need someone to discuss this issue here or thru a PM.

Absolutely!!  Please, if EVER I teach something that is incorrect, or maybe I'm "almost there but not quite," please, please, please, get with me and tell me so I can change if I am wrong.

Some of the herecies I mentioned...you might be surprised who they've come from.

Here are some more I learned that a well-known "preacher" teaches:
- God didn't "have the foggiest idea" what He'd created when He made the animals so He brought them to Adam, dead by the way, and Adam "spoke" them to life and called them by name.  So, Adam gave the animals life, not God.
This man uses Genesis 2:19 for his reason, but significantly twists the wording to justify his meaning
- Mary spoke Jesus into her womb
Luke 1:35 tells us different
- And I quote, "Death and life is in the power of YOUR tounge, not God's."
Does this even need comment?

Ever heard of Jessie Duplantis?  These are just a few.  On top of this, our head deacon once spoke with a woman who used to serve under him.  Her husband left her because she began to challenge things she saw that were wrong with his ministry...not even touching the doctrinal error...and she was ridiculed and hounded until she left.

Upon completion of this series, I'm hoping to do a summary of sorts of the "worst of the worst" herecies and who's preaching them.

Some think it is wrong to name names...however, readng 1 & 2 Timothy you'll see several examples of how Paul did that very thing in pointing out those who were blaspheming, teaching lies, or just plain deserted the work of the Lord.  Also, how are we to let people know where the herecy is being taught and who to avoid?  If we don't know who's teaching the lies, how are we to address it?
