Guidlines: How-To on sig's, avatars & Posting Pictures

For pictures the Max width of pics without getting horz-scrollbar is 700x
Sigs - 400 please


It has been asked MANY times as to were people can get the picture under their posts from.
This post is here to answer that so please do not make any knew topic's having to do with questions about were to get sigs (this does not include showing off sigs this is still ok).

1. First off,  the picture under a members posts is called a sig or signature.
    The small square pic on the left side of posts is called an Avatar (ava)
2. People who make these are called sig makers/designers
3. Get intouch with a sig maker and try to give them detail on what you want, the more info, the better.
4. Heff OCS and others here can make em for you and will temporary post/host for you.
5. If any designer makes you a sig be sure to thank them! Takes em time away from the game
6. Sigs must be no greater than 125x hi & 600 wide (400 normal) in ocs forums and should not to exceed 380kb.  
7. Once you have the sig pic you want,  you have to get it hosted on the internet in order for other people to see it in forums. Details below...
If you are OCS member, we will host your sig for you or you can use a recommended site> www.photobucket.com.  

PLEASE, No Heave flashing sig/ava or pics. Some have a epileptic reactions to such. Also, no sounds attached to sigs or avatars

SIGS & AVATARS
Sig's are to be no larger than 125h x 600w (400w is normal)
Avatars are not exceed 125w x 125h max 38kb.
You can upload your own avatar in PROFILES.
Sigs n ava's should be .gif, .jpg, .jepg but pgn or bmp take more file sizes so avoid using them for best results.

Note: We will not accept sigs/ava's that are "demonic" in nature, evil, sexual, dead (skulls) or just plain gross.

You can use IrfanView, a free program. It works great.
It can open ANY picture format. You can resize any image, and you can convert any file to another format.
For example, you can convert a .PCX format to a .JPG format.
F11 captures a BHD in-game picture (say a cheater) but its in a .PCX format and named "SS00000.PCX, SS00001.pcx, etc...

It has been asked many times. "How do I get the screen shots I have taken in the game"?
Well, for once and for all, here is how you do it:
Step by step, here is how to get your screen shots......

1. click on My Computer icon on desktop
2. click on drive ( C: ) to open it up (assuming that is where it was installed (default)
3. click on Programs Files
4. scroll down the list of programs, and click on NovaLogic folder
5. Click on the folder that says "Delta Force Black Hawk Down"
6. Look for files named SS00000.pcx, SS00001.pcx, SS00002.pcx (each time you take a screenshot, the SS000 # increases) are inside and are your in-game screen shots.

You need to convert to .jpg before sending to OCS > Please!
Go to http://www.irfanview.com/ for the program. I highly recommend it.

After you have resized the picture (700 max) and have the right file format, you need to host on the internet.
A free place to do that is to use PhotoBucket.

Go to http://photobucket.com/ and create an account.
Then add your screen shot or sigs to your account photo album.
Be sure to resize to max of 700 width as this forums limits width.
After that, you are given three links to that photo.
Use the link that has [img ]http://before the address and[/img ] after the address.

Copy and paste the address into your post. Your image should appear in your post.

For sigs, goto Profiles  and paste the link for your Signature box in there and check box button to on "Show Sig"

Some indicated you would like to add a second sig. in your profile.
I will allow a trial of it provided its on the same line, however currently the max of both combine is 700 wide (x125h)
A 400x125 and a 300x125 side by side will work.
A poll setup in NEWSPAPER ROOM on 7/21/2011 requests your input on your desktop settings.
 Am interested in if we can increase from 700 to 800 (or more) wide without messing up browsers on those who run lower res.
