God always has a way of blessing the faithful.

I did a hospital visit yesterday to see a church member (his name is Bear) in his lates 40s who had a massive heart attack on Sunday afternoon. He is one of our Sunday School teachers for our 11-14 yo kids. He was sitting up and talking and praising the Lord that he was still alive. He said he is thankful that everything is in God's Hands. He did say that he had been praying for a vacation for a while but this is not what he had in mind.

He told me he has no medical insurance. A social worker came in and said that the Veteran Adminstration called and said they would pay it.

He told me he has no paid time off at his job and will be out of work for 2 weeks.  I was able to tell him that the Deacon's had approved a love offering that essentially covers his 2 weeks of salary.

His wife does not drive and he was concerned how he would get home from the hospital - he lives about 55 miles away. I was able to organize some church members to take care of that.

So I told him to relax, enjoy the 2 weeks vacation he wanted and let his heart heal.

This is one of the cool things about being a Deacon. If you have ever helped someone who was in a hard spot, the byproduct is that it turns out to be a blessing to yourself as well. Some of you know what I mean. That is why it is better to give than receive.

So keep the "Bear" in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

And that is what the Lord would want, Deacon. A little community service for nothing in return never hurt anyone Wink. Although you and your church has gone above and beyond. I am thankful that there are still people like you and your fellow congregation, brings a huge smile to my face. Take care my friend.
